JMC launches ‘Clean Jammu, Green Jammu’ Drive, to plant 60,000 saplings by August 15
Jammu, June 18 (KINS): The Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) has set an ambitious target of planting 60,000 saplings across the city over the next two months as part of its ‘Clean Jammu, Green Jammu’ campaign.
The drive, launched in collaboration with the Urban Forest Division, aims to promote environmental awareness and encourage citizens to take responsibility for a greener future. JMC Commissioner Devansh Yadav kickstarted the campaign by planting Gulmohar saplings at a vacant canal bank site.
“We are aiming to plant 60,000 saplings by August 15. Each sapling will be tagged with a QR code that includes information about the plant species and the person who adopted it,” Yadav said as per KINS.
The initiative has seen enthusiastic participation from citizens, including senior residents and former councillors, many of whom adopted saplings and pledged to take care of them. The commissioner also stressed the importance of nurturing the saplings after planting, especially during the summer months, to ensure their survival and growth.(KINS)
