Govt to decide on extension of summer vacations tomorrow: Sakina Itoo
Srinagar, July 5 (KINS): Amid the ongoing heatwave sweeping across the Kashmir Valley, Education Minister Sakina Itoo on Saturday said that the government will take a final call on the possible extension of summer vacations on Sunday.
Speaking to reporters according to news agency KINS, the minister acknowledged the rising concerns of students and parents, saying the department has been inundated with calls requesting an extension of the break.
“We have received a lot of phone calls from worried parents and students urging us to consider an extension in summer vacations due to the persistent heatwave,” Itoo said.
She added that the government is closely monitoring the situation and will assess weather conditions before taking a final decision. “If the heatwave persists tomorrow, we will announce an appropriate decision in the interest of children’s health and well-being,” she said.
Expressing concern over the prevailing weather conditions, Itoo said, “We pray for rain and hope Allah shows mercy upon us. The well-being of our students remains our top priority.” (KINS)
