- Kulgam, July 6 (KINS): Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from society, Kulgam Police have arrested three drug peddlers, including a woman, and recovered a substantial quantity of contraband from their possession.
A police team led by In-charge Police Post Nehama, under the supervision of SDPO DH Pora, intercepted a load carrier (Auto) bearing registration number JK18D-9075 at a checkpoint near Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Pombay. Three individuals, including a woman, were on board. Upon search, 8.15 kilograms of a poppy straw-like substance was recovered.
The arrested individuals have been identified as:
- Mudasir Ahmad Bhat, son of Abdul Gani Bhat, resident of Watigam, Kulgam (driver)
- Raju Singh, son of Gurbaksh Singh, resident of Ludhiana, Punjab
- A woman resident of Moga, Punjab
All three have been taken into custody and shifted to the police station.
A case under FIR No. 49/2025 has been registered at Police Station DH Pora under relevant sections of law, and further investigation is underway.
The general public is urged to report any instances of drug peddling or other criminal activity to the nearest police unit or by dialing 112. Police seek the cooperation of citizens in eliminating this societal threat and reaffirm their commitment to taking strict action against offenders in accordance with the law.(KINS)
