Arshad Farooq

Baramulla, Sept 27 (KINS): Cabinet Minister Satish Sharma on Saturday described unemployment as one of the most pressing challenges in Jammu and Kashmir, emphasizing the need for a comprehensive special package to tackle the problem.
Speaking to reporters in Baramulla, as per news agency Kashmir Indepth News Service (KINS), Sharma said, “Unemployment is a big challenge in J&K. A big package is needed to resolve this issue, and we are determined to find solutions.”
The minister also spoke about the demands of Rehbar-e-Khel teachers, confirming that their matter has been formally taken up with the Centre.
On the plight of Physical Education teachers, Sharma assured that the government is working to fix long-pending service matters. “The Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) process is going to happen soon, and their due contribution will be recognized. We are confident the process will be completed at the earliest,” he said.
Speaking on the recent LPG shortage, Sharma explained that supplies were disrupted after weather-related damage to the national highway. He assured that dumping of gas cylinders has been directed to restore supply at the earliest.
Expressing concern over road accidents, the minister said awareness is crucial. “Life is precious. Last year, 1.7 lakh people in India lost their lives in road accidents. The Government of India has already announced 25,000 for those who take injured victims to hospitals, and we will implement this provision,” he said.
Highlighting the government’s efforts in sports development, Sharma said equipment has been provided to promote grassroots activities. “Our priority is to nurture young talent and build healthy communities through sports,” he added.(KINS)
