Omar unaware of Aga Ruhullah’s decision on Budgam bypoll

KINS Desk

Srinagar, Oct 14 (KINS): Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Tuesday said he was unaware of the decision of National Conference (NC) Member of Parliament Aga Ruhullah not to support any candidate in the upcoming Budgam bypolls.

“I don’t know anything about his decision,” Omar told reporters here, according to news agency Kashmir Indepth News Service (KINS).

Ruhullah has stated that he would not back any candidate in the Budgam bypolls, a seat that fell vacant after Omar Abdullah resigned from Budgam and retained his Ganderbal constituency. His remarks have fueled speculation about widening rifts within the National Conference.

Party insiders said relations between Ruhullah and the NC leadership have been strained for some time, with the MP repeatedly criticizing the party for failing to deliver on promises made to the people.

Reacting to internal party dynamics, Omar avoided commenting directly on Ruhullah’s stance but indicated that the party would take its own course regarding poll strategy.

“I will think if they take a decision at least on the reservation policy within three days,” Ruhullah has said, hinting that policy issues might influence his final position on the bypolls.

The Budgam bypoll is scheduled for November 11, and the political atmosphere in the region is heating up as major parties finalize their candidates and campaign strategies. (KINS)
