Srinagar, Oct 25 (KINS): Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Saturday said that while the National Conference (NC) had aimed for a clean sweep in the Rajya Sabha elections, betrayal cost the party its fourth seat.
Speaking to reporters in Srinagar, Omar Abdullah said, “Nobody should be disappointed with the 3-1 verdict. We tried for a 4-0. The real disappointment is the betrayal by some people, and everyone knows their names.”
He thanked all political allies and supporters who stood by the NC, particularly the Congress, for their backing during the elections. “I thank all, including Congress, who supported us. We feel bad for those who betrayed us at the last moment,” he added.
The Chief Minister expressed satisfaction that none of the National Conference votes had gone to waste, emphasizing that the outcome still reflected the party’s strong position and unity. “It is a matter of great satisfaction that none of the National Conference votes was wasted,” Omar said.
The NC had secured three of the four Rajya Sabha seats, while the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) managed to win one, following a closely watched electoral contest that saw intense political maneuvering and cross-voting allegations.(KINS)
