Tanvir Sadiq urges Government to intervene in advertisement issues affecting several media outlets in J&K

KINS Desk

Srinagar, Oct 29 (KINS): Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) MLA Tanvir Sadiq today raised concerns in the Legislative Assembly over what he said the government’s continued neglect of the media sector, stressing that the press plays a vital role as the “fourth pillar of democracy.”

Speaking during the session, Sadiq as per news agency Kashmir Indepth News Service (KINS), expressed surprise that the government has not released advertisements to several local media outlets for several years, which has severely impacted their functioning and financial stability.

“It is strange that the government has not given them advertisements. The media is the fourth pillar of democracy and deserves due support,” Sadiq said, urging the administration to address the long-pending issue.

He further appealed to the government to take immediate steps to ensure fair distribution of advertisements. “My request to the government is that they should take note of this matter. For the last several years, the media fraternity has been facing advertisement issues, and it must be resolved without delay,” he added.(KINS)
