Police arrests 04 drug peddlers, contraband substances recovered

Srinagar, Nov 04 (KINS): Continuing its unwavering crackdown on drug trafficking and substance abuse, Police have arrested four drug peddlers in Pulwama and Shopian and recovered contraband substances from their possession.

In Pulwama, during naka checking at Gudoora Crossing, a police party intercepted two individuals carrying nylon bags. During the search, about 7Kgs of Poppy Straw were recovered from their possession. They have been identified as Mohd Ashraf Naik, son of Gh. Ahmad Naik, resident of Ghat Gulzarpora and Abdul Qayoom Mir son of Wali Mohd Mir resident of Gudoora Pulwama. In another operation at Singo Narbal, police apprehended one individual carrying charas-like substance (weighing 77.5 grams0. He has been identified as Ishfaq Ahmad Hafiz son of Mohd Ashraf Hafiz resident of Pricho Pulwama.

Similarly in Shopian, a police party of Police Station Zainapora at a checkpoint established at Heff Kuri intercepted a suspicious person, identified as Tariq Ahmad Sheikh resident of Heff Zainapora. Upon search, 3.600Kgs of charas-like substance was recovered from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to a police station where he remains in custody.

Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations and further investigation have been initiated.

J&K Police reaffirm their resolve to eradicate the drug menace from society and urge citizens to extend cooperation by sharing information related to drug trafficking and other anti-social activities.(KINS)
