Candle marches continue across various districts in Kashmir condemning Delhi blast

KINS Desk

Srinagar, Nov 13 (KINS): Candle marches are continuing across several districts of Kashmir to condemn the deadly blast near Delhi’s Red Fort that claimed multiple innocent lives.

In a fresh march, a large number of residents, traders, students, and members of civil society took to the streets in Sopore, holding candles and placards as they marched in silence to honour the victims of the attack.

News agency Kashmir Indepth News Service (KINS) reported that the participants chanted slogans like “Hindustan Zindabad” and “Down with Terrorism,” calling for an end to the senseless killing of innocent people.

The people lit candles in memory of those who lost their lives. “We are here to show that Kashmir stands with the victims and their families. Terrorism has no religion, and those who carry out such attacks are enemies of humanity,” said Farooq Ahmad, a local trader who participated in the march.

In the last two days, similar scenes were witnessed in Ganderbal, Kupwara, Handwara, where community leaders and social activists joined hands to express solidarity with the victims.

Participants held posters that read “Stop Killing Innocents” and “We Stand Against Terror.”

Political parties and civil society groups across Jammu and Kashmir have already issued statements strongly condemning the attack.

Several leaders urged the government to take decisive action against those responsible.

The candlelight marches come amid nationwide outrage following the high-intensity explosion near the Red Fort metro station in Delhi’s Chandni Chowk area on Monday evening. The blast killed at least 13 people, injured over two dozen, and damaged several vehicles, sending shockwaves across the country.

Meanwhile, the Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Wednesday expressed deep sorrow and grief over the tragic loss of lives in the terrorist car explosion. The Cabinet observed a two-minute silence to honour the victims, terming the attack a “cowardly act aimed at disturbing the nation’s peace and unity.”(KINS)
