Indian Army commemorates 10th defence forces veterans’ day across Kashmir Valley

Srinagar, Jan 14 (KINS): The Indian Army on Wednesday commemorated the 10th Defence Forces Veterans’ Day by organising a series of events and welfare initiatives across multiple locations in the Kashmir Valley.

The programme as per Army Statement issued to news agency Kashmir indpeth News Service (KINS) was spearheaded by the Chinar Corps and executed by various formations, including Dagger Division, Vajr Division, Counter Insurgency Force (Kilo) and the Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry (JAKLI) Regimental Centre. The events were aimed at honouring veterans, Veer Matas, Veer Naris and their families for their invaluable contribution to nation-building, while also addressing their concerns with care and respect.

Ex-servicemen rallies were organised at Srinagar, Drugmulla, Uri, Chak Kigam, Manasbal, Langate and Haiderbeg, where senior military officials interacted with and felicitated veterans, Veer Matas and Veer Naris. Around 1,000 ex-servicemen and nearly 50 Veer Matas and Veer Naris, along with their families, participated enthusiastically in these programmes.

The initiatives highlighted the Indian Army’s unwavering commitment to the welfare of its veterans, supported by the dedicated efforts of various formations and the JAKLI Regimental Centre.

The events also provided assistance to veterans in resolving issues related to pensions, documentation and medical support, besides creating awareness about various government welfare schemes. These platforms enabled veterans and their families to engage directly with military and civil authorities, ensuring timely and effective redressal of grievances.

The commemorations reflected the nation’s deep gratitude and respect for its ex-servicemen, whose sacrifices have strengthened the sovereignty of the country. The Indian Army reaffirmed its commitment to continue serving those who have served the nation with courage and dedication.(KINS)
