Republic day celebrated across Kashmir under tight security; main event held at Bakshi Stadium

Srinagar, Jan 26 (KINS): The 77th Republic Day was celebrated across Kashmir with traditional enthusiasm and patriotic spirit on Monday, amid strict security arrangements. The main function of the Valley was held at Bakshi Stadium in Srinagar.

A strong three-layer security setup was put in place at the stadium, with police and paramilitary forces guarding all entry points. Officials said additional security personnel were deployed within a one-kilometre radius of the venue, and only invited guests were allowed to enter the stadium.

Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Kumar Choudhary presided over the main function at Bakshi Stadium. Meanwhile, Cabinet Ministers Sakina Ittoo and Javed Dar unfurled the National Flag at official Republic Day ceremonies in Anantnag and Baramulla, respectively.

Despite the cold weather, contingents of Jammu and Kashmir Police, CRPF, NCC, and school students participated in an impressive march-past and paid salute to the Deputy Chief Minister.

The event also featured cultural performances by artists from different parts of Jammu and Kashmir, showcasing the region’s rich heritage.

The National Flag was hoisted at all government offices across the Valley, including the office of the Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir.

Former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti and several National Conference MLAs from Srinagar were also present at the Republic Day function held at Bakshi Stadium.(KINS)
