Srinagar Mar 17: The Department of Botany successfully concluded two week-long entrepreneurship training programmes on “Nursery & Post-harvest Management of Commercially Important Ornamental Plants” and “Cultivation and Commercialization of Edible and Medicinal Mushrooms in Kashmir.”
Vice-Chancellor Prof. Nilofer Khan emphasized that such skill-based programmes play a vital role in bridging academic knowledge with real entrepreneurial opportunities and promoting sustainable livelihoods.
The programmes featured expert lectures, hands-on practical sessions, and field visits to floriculture centres and nurseries, providing participants with valuable exposure to nursery management techniques and mushroom cultivation practices.
The training programme on mushroom cultivation and commercialization was coordinated by Prof. Mohd Yaqub Bhat, while the programme on ornamental plants was coordinated by Dr. Mohammad Arief Zargar.
Prof Naseer Iqbal Registrar also spoke about the importance of workshop and Prof Aijaz Ahmad Wani Head Department of Botany presented the report card of workshops .
The event concluded with a formal vote of thanks delivered by Prof. Manzoor Ahmad Shah.
