Over 150 young athletes take part in ‘My Youth My Pride’ Summer Sports activities in Rajouri

Rajouri, Aug 05 (KINS): More than 150 young athletes participated in Special Summer Sports Activities organised under the Jammu & Kashmir Sports Council’s flagship “My Youth My Pride” (2026–27) initiative at Army Goodwill Public School, Rajouri.
The programme was organised under the guidance of J&K Sports Council Secretary Nuzhat Gul and the supervision of District Sports Officer Jammu Bashir Ahmed Bakshi. The initiative aims to encourage youth participation in sports, particularly in remote and border areas, while promoting discipline, confidence, fitness, and a healthy lifestyle.
Principal Gurnam Kour of Army Goodwill Public School attended the event as the chief guest. Speaking on the occasion, she appreciated the Sports Council’s efforts to strengthen grassroots sports and inspire young students to actively participate in different sporting disciplines.
The event featured Tug of War and Arm Wrestling competitions, with enthusiastic participation from both boys and girls. More than 300 spectators witnessed the competitions, creating a vibrant and encouraging atmosphere for the young athletes.
Officials said the event highlighted the enthusiasm, strength, and determination of the participants while providing a platform to identify emerging sporting talent and promote a strong sports culture in the region.
The programme was coordinated by Shabir Hussain Chouhan, Assistant Manager, Sports Stadium Rajouri, with support from Farhat Jahangir (Volleyball Coach), Gurjot Singh (Table Tennis Coach), and Pram Chand (Ground In-charge), who ensured the smooth conduct of the competitions.
The J&K Sports Council said it will continue organising similar activities under the “My Youth My Pride” initiative across the Union Territory to provide greater opportunities for young athletes and encourage fitness, teamwork, and sportsmanship.(KINS)
