Samba, May 15: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Abhishek Sharma on Wednesday flagged off a group of 32 Haj pilgrims from Samba District at the conference hall of the DC office.
The group includes 16 males and 16 females. Among them, 28 pilgrims will report to the Delhi State Haj Committee at Haj Manzil, Turkman Gate, Asif Ali Road, New Delhi, while the remaining 4 will report to Srinagar.
The District Administration Samba has appointed a Nodal Officer and a Liaison Officer to ensure all necessary arrangements for the pilgrims’ safe and comfortable travel to Haj House in Srinagar and Haj Manzil in Delhi, from where they will depart for Saudi Arabia via the international airports in Delhi and Srinagar.
Interacting with the pilgrims, DC Sharma congratulated them on their opportunity to perform the holy Haj and wished them a safe and secure pilgrimage. He appealed to them to pray for the peace and prosperity of the country and their fellow citizens. He also emphasized the significance of the Haj pilgrimage and the importance of upholding the values of peace, unity, and brotherhood.
Furthermore, the DC advised the pilgrims to install and use the Haj Suvidha App, launched by Union Minority Affairs Minister Smriti Zubin Irani on March 3. The app provides necessary information and direct access to important services such as training modules, flight, and accommodation details during the annual pilgrimage.
The event was attended by SSP Samba Vinay Kumar, ADC Suresh Chander, DIO Ashiq Rafiq Malik, Liaison Officer Yaqoob Khan, officials from the District Administration and Police, representatives from the religious community, and well-wishers who came together to bid farewell to the pilgrims and pray for their well-being during their sacred journey.
