Jammu and Kashmir CM Omar Abdullah Instructs Police to Avoid Green Corridors During Travel, Emphasizes: ‘We Are Here to Serve the People, Not Inconvenience Them

Srinagar , Oct 16 ( KINS) : On his inaugural day as Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Omar Abdullah has made it clear that his administration will prioritize the comfort and convenience of the public.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Abdullah outlined his directives to the Director General of Police (DGP) of Jammu and Kashmir. He emphasized that there should be no “green corridor” or traffic halts during his road movements, a practice often implemented for VIPs that tends to disrupt daily life for ordinary citizens. Additionally, he instructed that the use of sirens should be minimized, and police should refrain from aggressive gestures, such as waving sticks, during these movements.
Abdullah stated: “I have spoken to the DG @JmuKmrPolice that there is to be no ‘green corridor’ or traffic stoppage when I move anywhere by road. I have instructed him to minimize public inconvenience & the use of sirens is to be minimal. The use of any stick waving or aggressive gestures is to be totally avoided.”
He also urged his fellow cabinet ministers to adopt the same approach, stressing that their conduct must remain “people-friendly.” Abdullah concluded his message with a clear commitment to public service: “We are here to serve the people & not to inconvenience them,” signaling a focus on accessibility and responsiveness in the new administration.( KINS)
