Speaker convenes All-Party meeting, urges Legislators to prioritize public issues ahead of Budget Session

Jammu, Feb 27 (KINS): Speaker of the J&K Legislative Assembly, Abdul Rahim Rather, on Thursday convened an all-party meeting ahead of the Union Territory government’s maiden budget session, set to begin on March 3, 2025.

During the meeting, the Speaker as per news agency KINS urged leaders of all political parties to focus on issues of public concern and uphold the trust of their electorate. “The House belongs to you. You are representing the people. Raise any issue, but do so in a disciplined manner while adhering to all rules,” Rather emphasized.

Responding to BJP MLA and Leader of Opposition Sunil Sharma’s stance that no business promoting an “anti-national or unconstitutional agenda” should be permitted, the Speaker asserted, “The House will strictly function as per the rules of business.”

Earlier, Sharma had reiterated his party’s position to the media, stating that the BJP would not allow any “anti-national or unconstitutional bill, question, or resolution” to be introduced in the House.

The meeting was attended by Mubarak Gul (National Conference), G.A. Mir (Congress), Sunil Sharma and S.S. Slathia (BJP), Waleed Para (PDP), M.Y. Tarigami (CPI-M), and independent MLA Muzaffar Iqbal. (KINS)
