PDP Leader slams Omar Abdullah’s Budget, calls it “zero on implementation”

Jammu, Mar 07 (KINS): Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) leader and MLA Pulwama on Friday criticized the budget presented by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, calling it a document with “good intentions but weak implementation and zero action on the ground.”

Speaking to reporters outside the Legislative Assembly in Jammu, PDP leader Waheed Para remarked that the budget “deserves zero marks” due to its lack of tangible measures. “We didn’t oppose it outright, but this budget appears more like a centrally-sponsored scheme distribution rather than a financial roadmap for addressing the concerns of the people of Jammu & Kashmir,” he said.

Para also accused the National Conference (NC) of deviating from its election promises. “There was hope that after a long gap, J&K would see a responsive government. We expected issues like unemployment, financial stress, economic upliftment, and the concerns of traders, farmers, daily wagers, and employees to be addressed. Unfortunately, this budget has failed to deliver and has only disappointed the people,” he stated.

Reacting to Leader of Opposition Sunil Sharma’s letter to the Speaker seeking to expunge references to Pakistan from Assembly proceedings, Para accused the BJP of suppressing voices both inside and outside the House. “The BJP wants to dictate the functioning of democracy in Jammu & Kashmir. They are now trying to take over the Speaker’s role and run democracy on their own terms,” he alleged.

Para reaffirmed that the Legislative Assembly should serve as a platform for open discussions, stating, “This House exists to create space for the voices of the people of Jammu & Kashmir, and they have every right to express their views.”(KINS)
