House Panel formed to probe alleged irregularities in Jal Jeevan Mission in J&K

Srinagar, April 09 (KINS): In response to growing concerns among legislators, Speaker of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Advocate Abdul Rahim Rather, on Wednesday announced the constitution of a House Committee to investigate alleged irregularities in the implementation of the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) in the Union Territory.

The Speaker’s decision came after several members raised the issue on the floor of the House, demanding a thorough inquiry into the functioning and execution of the mission aimed at providing safe drinking water to every rural household.

“In view of the pressing demand of the Hon’ble Members on the floor of the House for constitution of a House Committee to probe into the alleged irregularities in implementation of Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, I hereby constitute a House Committee,” Speaker Rather said in an official order.

The committee will be chaired by Justice (Retd.) Hasnain Masoodi. Its members include Rajiv Jasrotia, M. Y. Tarigami, Ali Mohammad Dar, Ranbir Singh Pathania, Tanvir Sadiq, Javaid Riyaz (Bedar), Muzaffar Iqbal Khan, Rafiq Ahmad Naik, Arjun Singh Raju, and Iftikhar Ahmad.

The panel is expected to begin its work soon, examining the implementation process, financial allocations, and any reported discrepancies or lapses under the Jal Jeevan Mission in Jammu and Kashmir.(KINS)
