SRINAGAR, JUNE 12: The Committee on Privileges of the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly held its first meeting today at the Assembly complex in Srinagar.
The meeting was chaired by the Committee Chairman, Nizam-u-din Bhat.
The Committee members including MLAs Riyaz Ahmad Khan, Salman Sagar, Sheikh Ahsan Ahmed (Pardesi), Javaid Iqbal, Vikram Randhawa and Bharat Bhushan participated in the meeting.
The Chairman elaborated on the roles and responsibilities of the Committee members. He expressed confidence in the members’ ability to work in coordination and contribute effectively to the Committee’s performance.
The members actively participated in the discussions, sharing their suggestions and feedback on various pertinent issues.
The Chairman emphasized that the Committee will function strictly within its mandated framework and will regularly meet to formulate and implement a course of action for the resolution of matters brought before it. He further urged all the members to discharge their duties diligently and uphold the decorum and responsibilities entrusted to them.
Pertinently, Jammu and Kashmir Assembly Speaker, Abdul Rahim Rather, had announced the formation of the nine-member Committee on Privileges during the latest Assembly session. The Committee will serve for the term ending March 31, 2026.
