High Court of J&K, Ladakh marks 79th I-Day with grand celebration at Srinagar

SRINAGAR, AUGUST 15: The High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh today celebrated the 79th Independence Day with a grand celebration and spirited gathering at the High Court Complex, Srinagar.
The event witnessed an exceptional turnout from the legal fraternity, creating an atmosphere filled with patriotic fervor and unity.
The celebration was graced by Chief Justice, High Court of J&K and Ladakh, Justice Arun Palli, who hoisted the National Flag in the presence of Justice Sindhu Sharma, Justice Javed Iqbal Wani, Justice Rahul Bharti, Justice Moksha Khajuria Kazmi, Justice Mohd Yousuf Wani and Justice Shahzad Azeem, the sitting Judges of the Srinagar Wing along with former Judges and members of the Civil and Police administration.
The proceedings commenced with the ceremonial flag hoisting, attended by the officers of the Registry and Judicial Officers from the District Judiciary, Senior Advocates, Government Advocates, members of the Bar and lawyers from the District Court Srinagar. The officers and officials of the High Court of J&K, the J&K Legal Services Authority and the District Court Srinagar also joined in large numbers, symbolizing the solidarity and commitment to the ideals of the Constitution.
The occasion also served as a reminder of the pivotal role played by the judiciary and members of the legal profession in India’s struggle for independence. Many stalwarts of the freedom movement including Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru, B. R. Ambedkar and several other leaders, were lawyers who used the power of law, advocacy and constitutional vision to challenge the colonial rule and lay the foundations of a sovereign, democratic nation. This legacy continues to inspire the legal community to protect the rights of citizens and uphold the rule of law.
Throughout the event, the premises of the High Court resonated with the values of Justice, Liberty, Equality and Fraternity. The presence of the Judges and the enthusiastic participation of the Bench and Bar highlighted their shared dedication towards safeguarding the constitutional principles and serving the people.
The celebrations concluded with a solemn reaffirmation that the nation’s strength lies in justice, unity and the protection of citizens’ rights. The judiciary and the legal fraternity pledged to continue working hand in hand for justice, equality and the progress of the nation.
