NextGen GST reforms are a Navratri gift for mothers, sisters and every household: Amit Shah

Srinagar, Sept 22 (KINS): Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah on Monday described the Modi government’s new NextGen GST reforms as a Navratri gift to “all the mothers and sisters of the country.”

In a series of posts on X, Amit Shah said the reforms—implemented nationwide from September 22—deliver on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s promise of tax relief to the people. The overhaul includes historic reductions in GST on more than 390 items, covering food, household essentials, construction materials, automobiles, agriculture, services, toys, sports goods, handicrafts, education, healthcare, and insurance.

“These reforms will bring joy to households, cut expenses, and increase savings,” Home Minister Shah said, adding that they also advance the vision of a self-reliant India. He urged citizens to adopt indigenous products in daily life, noting that lower GST in sectors such as agriculture, textiles, healthcare, and man-made fibres will boost domestic manufacturing.

Amit Shah emphasized that the middle class stands to gain significantly, as lower taxes on essentials, healthcare products, electronic appliances, and educational items will raise disposable income and promote savings.

Amit Shah Called the reforms a testament to PM Modi’s steely resolve to serve the poor, youth, farmers, and women.

“These reforms not only strengthen self-reliance but also put more money in the hands of every Indian family. They will accelerate India’s journey toward becoming the most prosperous nation,” the Home Minister said.(KINS)
