Srinagar, Apr 18 (KINS): Continuing its crackdown under the Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan, Jammu and Kashmir Police arrested five drug peddlers and recovered significant quantities of contraband in multiple operations across Anantnag and Sopore on Saturday.
In Anantnag, four accused were nabbed in separate actions, with recoveries including charas powder, cannabis and other narcotic substances. In Sopore, another peddler was apprehended during naka checking with contraband seized from his possession. Cases have been registered and investigations are underway to trace wider networks.
Alongside enforcement, J&K Police stepped up awareness efforts in Shopian, engaging students on the dangers of substance abuse and promoting a drug-free lifestyle. Training programmes were also held in Pulwama to strengthen investigation of NDPS cases, while inspection drives targeting chemist shops were conducted in Awantipora to curb misuse of pharmaceutical drugs.(KINS)
