Shopian, August 24: Under the aegis of the Civic Action Programme, J&K Police in Shopian organized a road race at Zainapora to promote physical fitness, sportsmanship, healthy engagement and a drug-free lifestyle among youth.
The race commenced from NIPS Zainapora, proceeded towards Police Station Zainapora and culminated back at NIPS Zainapora. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from local youth and sports enthusiasts, who took part with great zeal and sporting spirit.
The programme provided participants an opportunity to showcase their endurance and athletic abilities while promoting discipline, unity, camaraderie and healthy competition.
The event also conveyed a strong message against drug abuse and substance addiction. Participants were sensitized about the harmful effects of drug abuse and encouraged to adopt sports and other healthy, productive and constructive activities.
The first, second and third position holders were felicitated with cash prizes and mementos in recognition of their outstanding performance, determination and sporting spirit.
Police reiterated its commitment to organizing more sports and community-oriented programmes aimed at the welfare, empowerment and positive engagement of youth, while working collectively towards a drug-free society.(KINS)
