PDP leaders visit families of militants to gain sympathy and votes, Says BJP

Srinagar, Jan 5, : Bhartiya Janata Party Saturday castigated People’s Democratic Party for visiting and expressing sympathies with the families of slain militants.

PDP president and former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Mehbooba Mufti and senior leader Engineer Nazir Ahmed Itoo visited the families of couple of slain militants and expressed sympathies with the members. They even asked police to stop harassing the family members of militants.

BJP state spokesperson Altaf Thakur told news agency CNS that Mehbooba Mufti and Nazir Itoo are doing politics on the dead bodies of militants. He said it was Mehbooba Mufti who passed directions to Army while heading Unified Command Meetings to be harsh towards militants. “Who started ‘Operation All Out’ and who said that those killed in protest don’t go to fetch milk and toffees. It was Mehbooba Mufti that started persecuting families of militants and now she is shedding crocodile tears to gain votes,” Thakur said.

He also lashed at PDP leader Nazir Ahmed Itoo for visiting the families of militants like his party leader. “First Nazir Itoo met Mirwaiz Umar Farooq where he faced humiliation and now he is visiting families of militants to restore the credibility of his party that has lost relevance. Such tactics won’t fetch the votes for the party. People are well aware of the fact that PDP is doing only politics,” he said. (CNS)
