‘Four Shopian Youths Held On Charges Of Stone Pelting In Sopore’

Police on Saturday said that it has arrested four Shopian youths on charges of stone pelting in Sopore area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

Reports said that police has detained four youths during clashes in Sopore last evening.

SSP Sopore Javid Iqbal said that the four youths were detained by police while they were pelting stones on security forces in Sopore yesterday.

All the four youths belong to south Kashmir’s Shopian district.

“A case under FIR 117/2019 and relevant sections of law has been registered against them,” SSP said.

Police identified the detained persons as Rasik Ahmad Hajam son of Abdul Gani, Arshad Ahmad Shah son of Abdul Rashid, Ishfaq Ahmad Sheikh son of Abdul Aziz and Aadil Ali Sheikh son of Ali Mohammad, all residents of Shopian district.

Pertinently, a militant commander of ISJK Ishfaq Ahmad Sofi, a resident of Sopore was killed in a gunfight at Ram Nagri Shopian yesterday leading to stone pelting clashes in parts of Sopore. (GNS)
