District Police Leh solves blind murder case in shortest possible time

September 11: On 8th of September 2019, Police Post Housing Colony Leh received information through reliable source that one person later identified as Dhan Bhadur Khatri son of Jewan Bhadur resident of  Nepal has been killed in a rented room at New Bus stand near maxi cab union office.

On receipt of this information, police parties from Police Station Leh and PP Housing Colony registered a case and immediately started investigations in the murder case.

During investigation, based on inputs, various nakas were established at separate locations. The teams succeeded in arresting two accused persons who were about to flee from Leh. They were identified as Lalu Sah and Raja Babu, both residents of Bihar, electricians by profession.

When the officers spoke to them about the murder case, the investigating officers learnt about their involvement in the murder case. During further questioning, the main accused Lalu Sah revealed that the victim used to get water for the tenants and clean the rooms for petty amounts and on that fateful night, they planned a party together and all got drunk where a scuffle took place amongst them due to some money owed to the deceased. During this, the main accused Lalu Sah got agitated and hit the victim on his head with hammer and Karanti, killing him on spot and fled away from the scene of crime.

While investigating the case, weapons of offence were recovered and seized by the Leh police in presence of magistrate.

Moreover, during the course of investigation it came to fore that the owner of the said guest house had not maintained any record of the tenants and didn’t have any antecedents of the tenants due to which it became really hard for the police teams to identify the accused during the initial hours but the strenuous efforts of SHO Leh and In-charge PP Housing Colony along with the teams cracked the case within hours.
