Unscheduled power cuts leave Miran Sahib residents fuming in Jammu, ‘Excessive burden forces us to cut supplies’: PDD

Ishtiyaq Ahmad
Jammu, Jan 01 (KINS): Unscheduled electricity outages and frequent tripping of transmission lines in the midst of the cold weather conditions, have made the lives of Miran Sahib residents in Jammu miserable.
The residents of this area told this KINS correspondent that the distribution system managed by the Power Development Department (PDD) has gone out of control, with no predictable pattern to the power cuts.
Apart from regular cuts, repeated spells of outages and fluctuations are aggravating the problems for the people.
“Nothing has changed for us despite the claims of successive governments that power infrastructure have been revamped,” Mohan lal, a local resident in Miran Sahab, said.
The PDD blames it on the excessive burden on the grid station, caused by the unregistered load. “We are aware that the cold wave has gripped the Jammu region but people are using power as if there is no tomorrow. Overloaded grid station of this area forces us to cut the supplies,” the JE said. (KINS)
