Dir horticulture inspects strawberry plantation in Satwari zone


Jammu Feb 05 (KINS): Director Horticulture, Jammu Ram Savak, Friday inspected the Strawberry plantation in Ghazian village of Panchyat Kotli Mian Fateh of Horticulture Zone Satwari.
 While interacting with the strawberry growers, the Director emphasized that this year the incentive for strawberry cultivation has been enhanced to Rs. 0.13 lakh per kanal and advised them to go for diversified farming so that they can get the maximum returns per unit area.He also stressed upon them to come forward for planting high commercial crops such as  grapes, papaya etc. for which a good incentive is being given to popularize these crops to be grown as demonstration plots.
The Director also elaborated the gathering about the importance of sale cum facilitation centres in the Jammu District, regarding the availability of high quality planting material and value added products. He also emphasized that these centers will serve as common platform for them to demonstrate and sell their produce. He also visited Government Fruit Plant Nursery Maralian  and took stock of the ongoing developmental activities. DLSMS, Sanjeev Karlupia and other officers accompanied the Director during the tour.
