Srinagar, Jul 5 The Wildlife department has rushed its teams to a colony near the Srinagar airport after local residents claimed to have seen a leopard during the past about a week, particularly during the night hours.
Meanwhile, the wildlife department officials captured a live leopard in north Kashmir district of Baramulla on Sunday night.
Official sources said that panic gripped last night Highland Enclave Gogoo outside the Srinagar Airport when a leopard was again sighted in the area. The wild animals is emerging in the colony almost daily, particularly during the night hours, the residents claimed and said they did not venture out of their homes during night and morning hours for the past one week.
They said Wildlife officials were informed about the threat of leopard in the area.
Meanwhile, the wildlife department has rushed teams to the area to capture the leopard.
A 4-year-old girl was killed by a leopard on June 4 in central Kashmir district of Badgam, evoking massive reaction. However, the wild animal was later captured on June 15 and released in Dachigam park.
Sources said a leopard was captured last night at Rampur Boniyar in Uri in Baramulla district. The wild animals was entering from nearby forest frequently for the past over a week. Leopard is being transported to Dachigam park and released there on Monday. (UNI)
