Lt Gen Amardeep Singh Aujla assumes charge as GOC 15 Corps

Srinagar May 09: Lieutenant Gen Amardeep Singh Aujla took command of the Kashmir-based 15 Corps also known as Chinar Corps.

Outgoing GoC Lt Gen Devendra Pratap Pandey handed over the command to Lt Gen Amardeep Singh here today.

Lt Gen Devendra Pratap Pandey commanded the 15 Corps in 2021 when Kashmir was confronted with the twin challenges of terrorism and the COVID-19 pandemic.

“The tenure has been defined by an improved security environment prevailing at the Line of Control, as well as in the hinterland. With the Civil Administration and Security Forces synergizing their efforts to bring normalcy back to Kashmir, terrorism is on the decline with assessed residual terrorist numbers reduced to an all-time low,” said a defence spokesman at Srinagar.

He said a dynamic deployment along the Line of Control integrated with technical intelligence reduced infiltration drastically. “The opportunity afforded by the Ceasefire Violation agreement resulted in renewed attempts to bring succor to the local population residing along the Line of Control,” he said.
