Young Maestro Ishfaq Hamid from Baramullah to be Honored with Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar for Elevating Rabab Art Globally

Srinagar, Jan 19: In a celebration of exceptional talents and remarkable achievements among children aged 5 to 18, the prestigious Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar (PMRBP) is set to honor 19 outstanding youngsters from across the country in a ceremony at Vigyan Bhawan on January 22, 2024.

Among the distinguished recipients is Master Ishfaq Hamid from Baramullah, a prodigious artist excelling in Rabab and Matka. His exceptional contributions to elevating Rabab playing and promoting this rare traditional art globally have earned him recognition and accolades. Notably, he received praise during the 13th Kashmir festival and Guru Nanak Dev ji’s 550th Prakash Parv. Adding to his list of honors, Ishfaq Hamid was bestowed with the Bhai Mardana National Award 2020 by NGO Sarhad.
The Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar acknowledges excellence in seven categories: Bravery, Art & Culture, Environment, Innovation, Science & Technology, Social Service, and Sports. Each awardee is granted a medal, certificate, and a citation booklet for their commendable achievements.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to interact with the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar awardees on January 23, 2024. Additionally, these young achievers will participate in the Republic Day parade on January 26, 2024, showcasing their talents and accomplishments on a national platform.

The list of selected children comprises one outstanding individual in the categories of Bravery, Science & Technology, and Innovation; four remarkable children in the category of Social Service; five talented individuals in the category of Sports, and seven young artists in the category of Art and Culture. The diverse group of 9 boys and 10 girls hails from 18 different States and Union Territories, representing the nation’s rich pool of young talents.
