Srinagar, June 17: In a significant development, the Anti Corruption Bureau(ACB) probing the high-profile case of alleged backdoor appointments and other complaints in Jammu and Kashmir Bank, Monday summoned the Bank’s former chairman Pervez Ahmed for questioning at its Srinagar headquraters.
Top sources told Kashmir Indepth that to widen the ambit of investigations, the ACB sleuths summoned former JK Bank chairman Pervez and quized him since morning to corraborate the evidence regarding the alleged backdoor appointments and other complaints.
“We are trying get every peice of evidence and to supplement our investigations. Many other people are likely to be questioned,” a top official in the ACB told Kashmir Indepth.
Following the serious allegations against the former Bank chairman, the Government ordered his sacking and appointed R K Chibber as an interim chairman of the Bank.
There are reports that 1200 alleged backdoor appointments were made and major bunglings were reported in the Bank prompting the ACB to launch back to back raids at the corporate headquarters of the Bank.
