DC Shopian reviews implementation of JJM

SHOPIAN, JULY 31 (KINS): The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Shopian, Sachin Kumar Vaishya today chaired a meeting of concerned officers to review the implementation of Centrally Sponsored programme Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM), to provide potable drinking water to every household in the district.

On the occasion, a thorough discussion on the subject was held wherein stress was laid on the effective implementation of the mission to ensure providing of tap water to each and every household within a fixed timeframe.

At national level, the programme aims to provide every household with a safe and adequate drinking water supply by 2024.

Speaking on the occasion, the DC exhorted upon the concerned authorities to realize the mission well before the set timeline and assured of every kind of administrative and other necessary support on the part of district administration.

He also directed to identify the uncovered govt. institutions including school/hospital buildings, ICDS Centres, Panchayat Ghars etc so that appropriate measures are taken to cover them under JJM.

Meanwhile, various issues and bottlenecks were comprehensively discussed during the meeting wherein the concerned officers sought the timely disposal of these impediments so that the target is achieved within the stipulated time frame.

The DC assured that every possibility shall be explored to redress the identified issues in a time bound manner.

The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner, Mushtaq Ahmed Simnani, Executive Engineer JJM, Executive Engineer KPDCL, District Information Officer, District Social Welfare Officer, district and sectoral officers besides other concerned functionaries. (KINS)
