Light to moderate snowfall predicted in the first week of December: MeT

 

Srinagar, Nov 27 ( KINS): Even as minimum temperature improved across the valley, the Meteorological Department (MeT) on Saturday predicted a light to moderate snowfall in the first week of December.

According the MeT forecast the weather will be generally cloudy in Kashmir and Ladakh whereas it will be mainly clear to partly cloudy in most parts of Jammu region on Saturday.

“Mainly DRY weather is expected till December 3. As of today, light to moderate snowfall is expected during December 4-5 and the probability of occurrence as on date greater than 50 percent,” a MeT department said.

The night temperature witnessed an improvement across Kashmir region giving some relief to the people in Kashmir.

The capital city of Srinagar recorded a minimum temperature of 0.4 degrees Celcius against previous night’s minus 1.3 degrees .

The tourist resort of Pahalgam in south Kashmir recorded a low of minus 1.0°C against minus 3.3°C on the previous night.

The ski resort of Gulmarg in north Kashmir, recorded a minimum of minus 1.0°C against minus 1.8°C on the previous night.

The cold conditions are likely to continue till this month.

Leh district in Ladakh UT recorded a low of minus 4.5°C against last night’s minus 7.5°C. While Kargil town recorded a low of minus 2.0 degrees, Drass recorded minus 7.6°C. (KINS)
