Stresses the Role of Religious Leaders in Promoting Unity and Brotherhood
SRINAGAR, July 22:In a significant move to promote unity and understanding, the Deputy Commissioner of Srinagar, Dr. Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat, convened a meeting today with leaders and representatives from both Shia and Sunni sects, including members of the Waqf Board. The meeting, held at the DC office in Srinagar, aimed to foster solidarity, mutual respect, and cooperation among the sects.
The gathering underscored the shared values and commonalities between the two sects, highlighting the importance of unity in addressing contemporary challenges. “Unity is not just a necessity but a divine commandment. We must rise above and work together for the common good of the community,” stated Dr. Bhat.
Notable scholars, religious leaders, and community representatives attended the meeting, expressing their unanimous commitment to work towards unity and to thwart any attempts at sectarian division. They stressed the importance of maintaining harmony among all Muslim sects for the overall betterment of the community.
During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner emphasized the need for religious scholars and imams to play a constructive role in maintaining unity and brotherhood. He highlighted the importance of mutual respect among various sects as essential for peace, progress, and a harmonious future for the entire community. “We must show determination to continue efforts in bridging divides and building a stronger, more cohesive community,” he added.
The meeting was also attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Syed Ahmad Kataria and other senior officers of the district administration, who echoed the sentiments of unity and collaboration expressed during the session.
