Srinagar, Sep 16 (KINS): Union Home Minister Amit Shah has vowed to “bury terrorism so deep that it can never rise again” in Jammu and Kashmir, as he accused the National Conference (NC), the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), and the Congress of attempting to destabilize the region.
Addressing three rallies on the final day of campaigning for the first phase of the Assembly elections, Shah urged voters to reject the “dynasties” of the Abdullahs, Gandhis, and Muftis.
“The Congress, National Conference, and PDP have made promises to release terrorists and stone-pelters,” Shah alleged. “Defeat these three families for once, and I promise you terrorism will be buried so deep, it won’t return for seven generations,” he declared.
Shah emphasized that the BJP-led central government will not entertain any talks or cross-Line of Control (LoC) trade with Pakistan until terrorism is entirely eradicated. “We have secured Kashmir by burying terrorism,” Shah asserted, reaffirming that the government would provide jobs to youths “holding laptops and the tricolour in their hands,” while those “holding guns” would face jail.
Shah also criticized NC President Farooq Abdullah for allegedly making baseless accusations that the Indian Army had links with terrorists. “Insulting the army, which has protected Jammu and Kashmir in three wars and continues to shield its people, is unacceptable,” he said. He also took aim at NC leader Omar Abdullah’s past comments regarding the execution of Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru. “If their government is formed, stone-pelting will resume, funerals for militants will occur, and attacks will escalate,” Shah warned.
Referring to the Congress leader Sushil Shinde’s recent statement about his fear of visiting Lal Chowk in Srinagar during his tenure as Home Minister, Shah invited him to visit the region now. “Come with your children and grandchildren. No one can harm you because we have secured Kashmir,” Shah said, emphasizing the change in the security situation under the current government.
Shah reminisced about the “Ekta Yatra” led by then-BJP President Murli Manohar Joshi in December 1991. “The situation has changed, and now Ganesh Chaturthi, Janmashtami are observed, and Tazia processions are held without any riots,” he said, highlighting the improved communal harmony in the region.
Shah’s speeches come in support of BJP candidates in the region, as the party aggressively campaigns to make inroads in Jammu and Kashmir’s political landscape. The first phase of the election covers 24 constituencies across seven districts, including the Chenab Valley and south Kashmir.(KINS)
