Police arrest two drug peddlers in Pulwama; Psychotropic substances & cash seized

Srinagar, October 8 (KINS): In a significant crackdown on drug-related activities, police in Pulwama have arrested two drug peddlers and seized psychotropic substances and cash from their possession.
A police team from Pulwama Station conducted a routine checkpoint at Drusoo, where they apprehended a drug peddler identified as Umer Hassan Yatoo, son of Gh Hassan Yatoo, a resident of Drusoo. During the search, officers recovered 22 bottles of Codeine Phosphate (KAIMODIN-T) and cash amounting to ₹10,800. Preliminary investigations revealed that Yatoo was allegedly involved in selling Codeine Phosphate at inflated prices to foster drug addiction among local youth.
In a separate operation, a police team from Litter Station arrested another notorious drug peddler, Aqib Khursheed Dangroo, also known as Junaid, son of Khursheed Ahmad Dangroo, who resides in Zasoo. During Naka checking, police recovered Brown Sugar from his possession.
Cases under relevant sections of the law have been filed at the respective police stations, and investigations are currently underway.
The Jammu and Kashmir Police urge the community to remain vigilant and report any incidents of drug peddling or other criminal activities. Citizens are encouraged to contact their nearest police station or dial 112 if they witness any suspicious behavior. The police emphasize the importance of public cooperation in combating the drug menace and maintaining a safer society for all.(KINS)
