Srinagar, Oct 09 (KINS): A day after the National Conference (NC) and Congress alliance secured a resounding victory in the Jammu and Kashmir elections, hundreds of jubilant supporters gathered outside the Srinagar residence of NC leaders Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah to congratulate them.
News agency KINS reported that by chanting slogans in support of the Abdullah family and waving party flags, the crowd celebrated the victory of the National Conference, which emerged as a dominant force in the NC- Congress alliance.
This victory is seen as a critical moment for the NC-Congress coalition, which campaigned on promises of restoring statehood and addressing long-standing grievances following the abrogation of Article 370.
Farooq Abdullah, the veteran leader and former Chief Minister of J&K, stepped out to greet the supporters, thanking them for their unwavering trust and participation in the democratic process.
His son, Omar Abdullah, also expressed his gratitude, stating, “This victory belongs to the people of Jammu and Kashmir. We will continue to fight for your rights and dignity.”
The National Conference (NC) and Congress alliance is poised to form the government in Jammu and Kashmir within the next few days, with strong indications that Omar Abdullah will be the coalition’s chief ministerial candidate.
When contacted by Kashmir Independent News Service (KINS), senior NC leader Nasir Aslam Wani said that the party leaders will meet to discuss the strategy and future course of action.
If confirmed, Omar Abdullah’s appointment would mark a significant return to leadership for the former chief minister, who previously served two terms.(KINS)
