Srinagar, Mar 29: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha offer condolences to the bereaved families of Ramban accident victims.
The calamity transpired when a vehicle, transporting ten passengers, careened off the Jammu-Srinagar national highway near Battery Chashma in Ramban, plummeting into a 300-meter gorge and resulting in the loss of at least ten lives.
According to authorities, the taxi, en route from Jammu to Srinagar, met with a devastating accident near Battery Chashma area of the district, plunging into an approximately 800-feet deep gorge along the Jammu-Srinagar national highway.
Jammu and Kashmir Police swiftly responded to the distress call, along with the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and civil Quick Response Team (QRT) Ramban, mobilizing to the accident site to initiate rescue operations.
Senior officials, accompanied by the police team, SDRF personnel, Army and civil QRT Ramban, promptly arrived at the scene, launched an immediate rescue effort.
Upon receiving the distress call, the Police, State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), and civil Quick Response Team (QRT) Ramban along with Indian Army promptly mobilized to the accident site to commence rescue operations.
Despite encountering significant challenges, including rugged terrain and adverse weather conditions, the teams exhibited unwavering dedication throughout the arduous rescue operation to retrieve the bodies of the victims. Concurrently, efforts to identify the deceased were underway, accompanied by thorough investigative procedures.
The collaborative endeavor between the Indian Army, Ramban Police, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and local volunteers underscores a remarkable demonstration of solidarity and swift action amidst adversity. Such synchronized responses are pivotal in mitigating the repercussions of unfortunate incidents and extending crucial support to affected communities.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi conveyed his condolences and expressed sorrow regarding the Ramban accident, extending sympathies to the bereaved families and offering prayers for the swift recovery of the injured.
In a post by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) on social media platform X, it was stated, “PM Modi has expressed grief on the accident in Ramban, Jammu and Kashmir. He extends condolences to the bereaved families and prays for a quick recovery of the injured.”
Furthermore, the post announced, “An ex-gratia of Rs. 2 lakh from PMNRF would be given to the next of kin of each deceased. The injured would be given Rs. 50,000.”
In addition to the Prime Minister’s sentiments, Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha, conveyed profound shock over the Ramban road accident, extending condolences to the bereaved families. LG Sinha directed the concerned district administration and Divisional Commissioner to furnish all necessary assistance to the kin of the deceased individuals, reaffirming the government’s unwavering commitment to supporting the affected families during this challenging period.
