‘Three Terrorists Neutralized in Joint Operations by Police and Army in Kupwara’: Police

Srinagar, Aug 29 (KINS): The Jammu and Kashmir Police informed that in a major success against infiltration attempts, the Jammu and Kashmir Police, in collaboration with the Indian Army, neutralized three terrorists in the border district of Kupwara during two joint operations.
According to Police the operations were launched following specific intelligence inputs received on August 27, 2024, regarding simultaneous infiltration attempts in the Karnah and Kumkadi sectors near the Line of Control (LoC) in Kupwara. “Acting on these inputs, joint teams of the J&K Police and the Army were swiftly deployed to intercept the infiltrators.
The first encounter took place in the Kumkadi sector at around 7:30 PM on August 28, where suspicious movement was detected. The exchange of fire between the security forces and the terrorists continued until the early hours of August 29. Simultaneously, another operation was launched in the Karnah sector, where firing commenced at around 9:00 PM and continued through the night”.
“During the search operations conducted at both locations in the morning, security forces recovered two bodies from the Kumkadi sector and one from the Karnah sector. The identities of the terrorists are yet to be confirmed, but all three are believed to be foreign nationals”.
“This marks the sixth successful operation in Kupwara district this year, bringing the total number of terrorists neutralized in the area to ten, all of whom were foreign militants. The security forces have intensified their efforts to curb infiltration along the LoC, maintaining a close vigil and emphasizing the development of human intelligence to thwart such attempts”.
“Search operations are ongoing, and legal formalities are being completed as the situation continues to be monitored closely”.(KINS)
