IGP Kashmir reviews Security ahead of Mela Kheer Bhawani

Ganderbal, May 31 (KINS): Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir Zone, V K Birdi, on Saturday conducted a comprehensive review of the security arrangements for the upcoming Mela Kheer Bhawani, scheduled to be held on June 3 at the revered temple in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district.

Speaking to the media during his visit, IGP Birdi assured that stringent security measures have been put in place to ensure the safe and smooth conduct of the annual pilgrimage, which draws devotees from across the Valley and beyond.

“All necessary security arrangements have been made so that devotees coming from different parts of the Valley feel secure and face no inconvenience,” Birdi stated.

Addressing public concerns following the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, Birdi emphasized that the Jammu and Kashmir Police operates on detailed security assessments.

“Security planning for the Mela has been carried out in accordance with standard review protocols. Every effort is being made to maintain peace and provide full protection to the devotees,” he said.

The Mela Kheer Bhawani, held at the historic temple of Goddess Ragnya Devi, is one of the most significant religious events for Kashmiri Pandits. The event sees large congregations of pilgrims, especially those returning to the Valley to offer prayers on the auspicious occasion.(KINS)
