Man held at Baltal for using fake Yatra card to bypass security checks

Ganderbal, July 1 (KINS): In a major security breach attempt during the ongoing Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra (SANJY-2025), Jammu and Kashmir Police apprehended a man at Baltal in Ganderbal district for using a forged yatra registration card to illegally gain access through security checkpoints.

Police officials identified the accused as Shivam Mittal, son of Krishan Mittal, a resident of Dwarka Puri, Jagadhri, in Yamunanagar district of Haryana. The individual had obtained a fake Yatra permit through fraudulent means and tried to deceive the security forces deployed at the sensitive entry point, violating the mandatory verification protocols.

An FIR, No. 13/2025, has been registered at Police Station Sonamarg under relevant legal provisions, and a detailed investigation is underway to trace the source of the forged documents and uncover any possible network involved in such malpractice.

The police reiterated their commitment to maintaining the sanctity and safety of the pilgrimage, warning of strict action against any attempt to undermine the established security procedures.(KINS)
