Srinagar, June 30 (KINS): As part of the preparations for the Amarnath Ji Yatra (SANJY)-2026, Srinagar Police on Tuesday conducted a multi-agency mock drill at the Transit Yatri Camp, Panthachowk, to assess emergency preparedness and strengthen response mechanisms.
According to police, the exercise was aimed at evaluating operational readiness, inter-agency coordination, communication systems and the effectiveness of emergency response during critical situations.
The drill witnessed the participation of J&K Police, Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), Traffic Police, Security Wing, Fire and Emergency Services, Health Department, SDRF, Civil Administration, Ambulance Services and other stakeholder agencies.
Before the exercise, participating departments were briefed on their respective roles and standard operating procedures (SOPs), with emphasis on response time, communication, coordinated action and adherence to emergency protocols.
The mock drill simulated various emergency scenarios, including road accidents, fidayeen attacks, law and order contingencies, accidental injuries, evacuation, rescue operations and medical emergencies to test the preparedness and coordination of all agencies under realistic conditions.
Police said arrangements related to food, shelter and medical assistance for pilgrims have also been streamlined through the coordinated efforts of the Civil Administration, CAPD, Revenue and Health Departments under the unified command of the Joint Police Control Room (Joint-PCR).
A debriefing session was held after the exercise to identify operational gaps, assess response mechanisms and further strengthen the emergency response plan and SOPs.
Police said the exercise reaffirmed the preparedness of all stakeholder agencies and reiterated its commitment to ensuring a safe, secure and incident-free Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra-2026 through coordinated planning and proactive policing.(KINS)
