SPO bitten by dogs in Poonch, non-availability of vaccines in hospital adds to misery

Poonch, Jan 3 :  A Special Police Officer (SPO) was injured in an attack by stray dogs at Mendhar area of Poonch district on Thursday.

Reports reaching GNS said that the SPO Shahijhan suffered injuries in his leg after the street dogs attacked him near Police Station Mendhar. The SPO was immediately taken to Sub District hospital Mendhar where there was no anti-rabies vaccine available.

Later the concerned DSP and SHO got the vaccines from the open market for the SPO, they said.

Sources said that the anti-rabies vaccine is not available in the hospital from last three months.

When contacted CMO Poonch Dr Mumtaz Bhatti admitted that there was a shortage of the vaccine from some time.

“I have already taken up the shortage of vaccines with the higher authorities,” the CMO added. (GNS)
