SCPWCR takes cognizance of Ramban, Budgam incidents

Srinagar, July 16 : The State Commission for Protection of Women and Child Rights (SCPWCR) Tuesday took cognizance of two different incidents in Ramban and Budgam districts and has sought action taken report from the concerned regarding the same.

“In Ramban district, reportedly a teenage girl of Failti Maitra, set her ablaze at her home under mysterious circumstances last Thursday in which she got 90 per cent burn injuries. She was admitted in the hospital and later succumbed to her injuries at the hospital.

“Whereas, in Budgam district a case of clash between the two groups involving some unidentified youth came to the knowledge of Commission wherein the unknown youths started taking unsolicited photographs and videos of the girl students,” a statement of SCPWCR said.

Considering the gravity and seriousness involved in both the cases, the Commission has sought action taken report from the concerned Police authorities within 5 days. (GNS)
