Sarpanches, Panches of Mawar block demand release of MGNREGA funds

Srinagar, Feb 01 :-  The Sarpanchs and Panchs of Block Mawer in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Saturday accused administration of not releasing sufficient funds for the works in the area.

Reports said that the Sarpanchs of 22 Halqas  of  the area along with BDC vice Chairman Mohammad Ashraf took participate in the meeting and said bills of works taken under MGNREGA are pending from 2107-2019 and the result the locals of the area are suffering.

 They further said that they have appealed the concerned officials several times to release the pending bills to the contractors and labours but nothing is being done here.

They also said that the administrative department released the amount to clear the pending bills but local functionaries utilized them somewhere else..

BDC secretary Ghulam Mohammad Tantray of the area said beneficiaries of flagship programme of the government – Swach Bharat Abhiyan (SBM despite completing all the formalities have yet to receive the benefit.

They further said that the area is getting frequent power cuts in this bone chilling cold.

They have appealed the higher authorities to release all the previous pending bills to the contractors and demanded more funds for the area. (KNS).
