Sarpanch found dead at his home in Bandipora 

Srinagar Oct 13: A Sarpanch was found dead at his home in Zurimanz area of Bandipora district. 

An official told news agency Kashmir Indepth News Service (KINS) that family members of the Sarpanch saw him hanging inside his home on Tuesday morning. “When family rushed him to hospital he was declared brought dead,” the official said. Police has started the investigation to know the cause of the death. “After the postmortem it will be known whether he has committed suicide or have been murdered,” the official added. 

Official sources told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the family members of the sarpanch, who saw him hanging inside the house, immediately rushed him to a nearby hospital where doctors declared him dead on arrival.

A police official while confirming the incident said that the body was later taken to district hospital Bandipora for post-mortem and other medico-legal formalities.

He said that it was not immediately known as to why he took this extreme step.

The official said that the proceedings under relevant sections of law have been initiated and further investigation has been taken up in this regard—(KNO)
