Mothers, sisters, daughters can prevent men from joining militancy: GOC 15 Crops

Srinagar, Aug 27 (KINS ) Urging the women of Kashmir to step out and ensure that the young ones are protected from the enemies of the nation, General-Officer-Commanding (GOC) of Srinagar-based 15 Corps Lieutenant General DP Pandey said that mothers, sisters and daughters can prevent men from joining militancy.

“We need to call out the enemies of our children and society and question them for putting weapons in the hands of our loved ones. Only mothers, sisters and daughters can prevent men from joining the path of militancy,” Lt Gen Pandey said while addressing a programme organized by the Army to celebrate International Women’s Equality Day at Badami Bagh Cantonment in Srinagar late last evening.

“I urge the women of Kashmir to step out and ensure that their young ones are protected from the enemies of our nation,” he said.

It, he said, can only be accomplished if women support us (security forces and civil administration) in this endeavour. “Most of the times men are not able to speak up against these issues due to fear, but women are always particular about the safety of their families. When they speak up, things come to public attention,” the Army commander said.

Lt Gen Pandey said that these days women are participating in all fields but they don’t get due credit. “We as a society need to value their work and encourage them. So many women can be seen working in orchards in the valley. Now women are opening startup, including cafes and restaurants. They all need to be encouraged,” he added.
