Police in a statement said that Kupwara police on a credible input arrested an individual and recovered incriminating materials including ammunition from his possession.
Police in Kupwara today intercepted an individual identified as Mohd Aslam Beigh, S/O Nazir Ahmad Beigh R/O Maidanpora Lolab, at a naka check point and upon his personal search, seized one grenade, besides other incriminating material.
The individual has been taken into custody and preliminary investigation suggests that the individual was planning to join a terrorist outfit, and along with other terrorists was planning a terrorist attack in Kupwara area. Initial investigation revealed that he was motivated to turn to terrorism through social media by entities based in Pakistan.
A case FIR No. 6/2019 under relevant sections has been registered in P/S Kupwara in this matter“`.
