Gunfight rages in Shopian Village

Srinagar, January 22: A gunfight rages between militants and goverment forces in Shirmal area of South Kashmir’s Shopian district.

Official reports said a joint team of army, Jammu and Kashmir Police and Central Reserve Police Force conducted searches in Shirmal village on specific inputs about the presence of militants movement in the area.

Officials added as the joint team of forces intensified searches towards suspected spot the hiding militants fired triggering an encounter.

When last reports came in firing from both sides was on.

Pertinently on Monday three militants were killed in Budgam Encounter.
